Client v5.04 Public Beta Released
Client v5.04 is in public beta for Linux and Windows (console). It allows configuration of the amount of memory reported and the setting of advmethods through the [client]Configuration so that it persists [outside of the command line]. This is a maintenance release, with more signficant improvements coming in v.6. See

New Assignment Server (AS) fallback scheme.
We've implemented a new AS fallback scheme for how WUs are assigned. We will talk more about about how this works once we see if it works well. It's now being tested on both ASes.
QMD re-release complete
QMD's are now going to machines reporting 504MB or more and with the appropriate flags (BigWU + advmethods). We're now back to the previous value.

Earlier this month, Professor Vijay S. Pande, PhD, the Director of the Folding@Home Distributed Computing Project, and Assistant Professor of Chemistry and of Structural Biology, Stanford University, formally announced the project would be developing a Folding client based on Berkeley's Open Infrastructure for Network Computing (BOINC). The article notes the Pande Group has been working with David Anderson's group at Berkeley for more than a year, presumably (IMO) while the BOINC DC platform continued to evolve and mature to a point where it would support the unique needs of the Folding project. A closed beta is currently collecting data from core members of the BOINC and Folding projects, with an open beta test of the client to be announced in the coming weeks. Please note the BOINC client WILL NOT be replacing the current Folding client, but will continue to be developed in parallel. Posted on the Folding-Community.org forums here, with an on going discussion here.Team EggRoll would certainly appreciate any input from the members of Team Lamb Chop and Team Baked Alaska who are running on the BOINC DC platform, especially during the beta testing phase.

Good Morning TER
This is your West Texas Granny with the Weekly TER MIlestone Report.
As you all know last week Sopok joined the Million Point Club in F@H and we kicked off a recruiting drive. That resulted in a few people joining TER in the last week. Say, 280 people give or take a few. Not bad. Well this week, today in fact should see DoThe Ju join the 1.5 Million Point club In F@H. So lets get this party going and and boost our active users to no less than 1,000. What do you say?

As usual we give a hearty congrats to those who complete their first 1,000 points in F@H for TER. This week has been special as TER had our first 200,000+ point day. To be exact it was 215,984 points on 28 Feb 2005. The following new members and the many others who have joined were responsible for this achievement. Here is the first group of the new members to reach 1,000 points. More will follow later.

First thing first. Those of you who thought they would be able to sneak up on the mighty Troglodytes are wrong. As of this writing he has turned 6,116 points for the day and the day is not over yet.

First a little news. Rage3D passed The TechReport on thursday to move into 7th place. TER will also fall to Rage3D unless we moblize to fend of these people. At current levels Rage3D will pass TER in October 2005.
Now to the report.

Good morning all. West Texas Granny here with your weekly TER milestone report. But before we get started I want to point out that Rage3D has TER targeted and will overtake TER in 235 days. Their daily ouput continues to grow and as of today they are outproducing TER by 41,000+ points per Day and that's more than twice what it was only a week ago.
Now for the Report.

As most of you all know the great one Troglodytes has been our leading point producer in F@H for some time now. Well he just blew thru the 4 million point level prior to having to shutdown his machines down because of construction at his place. He will be back and stronger so don't fret.
I just wanted to point out this acheivement of his. To date he has produced 4,016,487 points and has folded 77,972 work units. Great job Trogs and Thanks for your support.

In the past, points for completed work units were only credited after the work unit was returned to the specific data server from which the WU was downloaded. This kept security tight and prevented cheating. However, if a particular data server went offline for maintenance, the work unit would be cached on your computer until the data server was back online. This was not a problem for fast client machines because WUs were completed many days before the WU deadline expired, allowing time for the server to be repaired and to upload the WU. But on slower machines, the deadline may have expired in the few days following a server upgrade or repair. Or in the case of a rare and total failure of a data server, the work units in the field from that server do not have to be discarded.
In the last few months, the F@H project added collection servers to collect work units while a data server was offline. However, points were not credited until the assignment server could upload the work units to the original data server. This announcement shows F@H has upgraded the collection server functionality so WUs are now routed back through an alternate collection server and credited immediately, even if the data server is offline. Additional benefits include easing the work load on the data servers, redundancy for uploading completed work units, and providing a continued growth path as the project expands. Pande Group is also considering splitting their servers between the Stanford network and the Stanford Medical network, so server uptime continues to edge a few points closer to 100%, possibly giving F@H the highest server availability of any DC Project.

Good Morning TER!!
West Texas Granny here with the TER update.
Well OC-AMD has returned to 2CPU from his sabbatical with Descent Bulletin Board. We can expect to see his usual 35,000+ points reflected in 2CPU's daily totals as early as today.
So what do you say about a recruiting effort to recruit at least 250 new members to TER within the next 3 months and 500 new members by June 2005.

Well lets see what the F@H server status is. Seems that server 113 and 116 are experiencing High CPU loads in the moderate range. Server 143 's status is "fail" and servers 153 and 157 are Down. The status of the servers posted are likely to change later in the day.

Good Afternoon TER!!
West Texas Granny here with your TER update.
Well folks things are starting to get interesting. There are 2 Teams that are hot on our heels. It seems that the SAGoons and the TechReport are ramping and will soon have TER on their overtake list. In fact the TechReport's projected production for the month of November will exceede TER by nearly 14,000 points. Also OC-AMD will be returning to 2CPU next week so you can expect them to be outproducing TER by 25,000 to 30,000 points per day.

Well folks hope this has been a good weekend for you. We exceeded last weeks production by some 39,000 points. A little more good news is we have already surpasssed last months production. Next thing we should shoot for is the 1,000,000 point a week level. Its a doable goal as we are running nearly 800,000 points a week now.
Well enough babbling from me. On to those numbers.
